Saturday 22 January - Ian and I managed to reunite with our good friends Emma and Dave (whom we met when we lived in La Baule, France) and whom we have not seen for almost a year. We got to visit their new home in Fareham and visit the beach which was refreshing despite the wintery weather. We also visited a very charming town nearby, Winchester. Which was once the capital of England in King Alfred's day and has many associations with the great king. We took a nice stroll through the town which is packed with cute shops and interesting building as well as lovely park along the river and a renowned boys school. Then we had a lovely pub lunch before catching the train back to Bristol.
